Loom video to text
Read a Loom instead of watching it — and keep the decisions in Kalpa.
How do you get the text of a Loom video?
To turn a Loom video to text, click Share in Loom and copy the link, making sure anyone with the link can view it. Paste the link above and press Transcribe. Kalpa returns the text with timestamps. The first 2 minutes of any Loom are free here; the rest of a longer walkthrough is in Kalpa.

Good to know

- Loom may show its own transcript, depending on your plan; Kalpa keeps yours next to your other recordings.
- Long product demos: the first 2 minutes are free here and the rest is in Kalpa.

Questions and answers
Is the Loom transcript free?
Kalpa transcribes the first 2 minutes of any Loom shared with anyone-with-the-link access for free, with no sign-up.
Why won’t my Loom link open?
A Loom link usually won’t open because it’s restricted to a workspace, so change link access to anyone with the link.
Doesn’t Loom already have transcripts?
Loom may show a transcript depending on your plan, and Kalpa lets you keep a Loom transcript as plain text next to your other recordings.
What happens to my Loom after it’s transcribed?
Kalpa deletes the Loom’s audio right after the transcript is made, keeps the text for 24 hours so the same video isn’t processed twice, then deletes it, and does not use it to train models.
Can I download the Loom transcript?
You can copy the Loom transcript or download it as a .txt file with timestamps.
