How do you transcribe a meeting recording?

Meeting transcription starts with the recording file: download it from your meeting app — Zoom, Google Meet, Teams and Webex all save MP4 files, and Zoom also saves an audio-only M4A. Drop it above. The first 2 minutes of any meeting are free here; the rest of the transcript is in Kalpa.

  3. Drop it here or in Kalpa

The first 2 minutes of any meeting are free here; the rest is in Kalpa.

  4. Share the notes

Copy the transcript, or send the summary from Kalpa.

Faster in the app

Meeting notes from any app, no bot in the call

Zoom, Meet, Teams or Webex — if the app gives you a recording file, Kalpa can transcribe it. Nobody gets a bot invite; you just upload the file after the meeting.

Good to know

  • Built-in transcription in meeting apps often depends on your plan or admin settings. Kalpa works with any recording file.
  • Audio-only files (.m4a) upload faster than video.
  • Always tell people you are recording — it’s the law in many countries.

Questions and answers

Is meeting transcription free here?

Kalpa transcribes the first 2 minutes of any meeting recording for free, with no sign-up; the rest of the meeting is in the Kalpa app, which is free to start.

Does Kalpa label speakers in a meeting transcript?

The Kalpa web tool doesn’t label speakers; it gives you the meeting transcript as text with timestamps that you can copy or download as a .txt file.

Which meeting apps are supported?

Kalpa works with recordings from any meeting app that gives you an audio or video file, including Zoom, Google Meet, Teams and Webex, up to 100 MB per upload.

Does Kalpa join my meetings?

No, Kalpa never joins your calls — you upload a meeting recording or record in person.

What happens to my meeting recording after upload?

Kalpa deletes the meeting audio right after the transcript is made; the text is kept for 24 hours so the same recording isn’t processed twice, then deleted, and Kalpa does not use it to train models.
