Kalpa is your private second memory. Recording transcription happens on your device. We only send data to external AI providers when you explicitly enable AI Chat, and your data is never used to train their models.
Information we process
- Recordings & transcripts — audio you record and its on-device transcription.
- Notes, insights & topics — content generated from your recordings.
- Chat messages — the questions you ask and the content you choose to chat about.
- Account data — your sign-in identifier and basic profile.
- Purchases — your subscription status and in-app purchase history.
- Usage & diagnostics — app usage events, crash reports and performance data (see below).
External AI processing
When you enable AI Chat, the text of the recordings, insights and notes you choose to chat about — together with your questions — is sent to third-party AI providers (OpenAI, Anthropic and Google) to generate a response on Kalpa's behalf. Your data is not used to train their models. Nothing is sent to external AI until you explicitly opt in, and you can revoke consent at any time in Settings, which immediately disables AI Chat.
These third-party providers are contractually required to protect your data to the same or an equal standard as described in this policy, to process it only to fulfil your request, and not to use it for their own purposes or to train their models.
How we use your data
- To provide transcription, summaries, insights and chat.
- To sync your content across your devices.
- To operate, secure and improve the app.
App analytics & diagnostics
To understand how the app is used, keep it stable and measure our advertising, the Kalpa app uses the services below. None of them receive your recordings, transcripts, notes, insights or chat messages.
- Google Firebase Analytics — app usage events (for example screens opened, features used, subscriptions and in-app purchases), an app instance identifier and basic device information. While you are signed in, these events are associated with your Kalpa account identifier.
- Firebase Crashlytics — crash reports and diagnostic logs (device model, OS and app version, error details), associated with your Kalpa account identifier so we can investigate problems you report.
- Sentry — error and performance diagnostics, such as how long transcription takes. This data is not associated with your account.
- Meta (Facebook) SDK — app install and launch events and automatically logged in-app purchase events, with an anonymous app identifier and basic device information, used to measure how our ads perform (including through Apple’s SKAdNetwork). We do not send your name, email or account identifier to Meta, we do not collect your device’s advertising identifier (IDFA), and we do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
Firebase Analytics and the Meta SDK follow the Analytics switch, and Crashlytics follows the Crash reports switch, in the app under Settings → Privacy. Both are on by default; turning a switch off stops that collection. These providers process data under their own privacy policies (Google, Meta, Sentry). We never sell your data.
Data retention
Your content is retained while your account is active. You can delete recordings and your account from within the app, which removes the associated data from our systems.
Website analytics & cookies
On this website (not the app) we use Google Analytics to understand which pages are useful so we can improve them, and IP addresses are anonymized. It runs from your first visit, before you interact with the notice at the bottom of the page. You can switch it off with "Turn off Google tracking" in that notice, and it stays off if your browser sends a Global Privacy Control / Do Not Track signal. You can change your choice any time by clearing this site's data in your browser.
We also use advertising cookies to measure how our campaigns perform: Google Ads (which may use conversion and remarketing cookies) and the LinkedIn Insight Tag (which may set cookies on LinkedIn's behalf and links a visit to your LinkedIn profile where you are signed in). Google Ads follows the same on-by-default setting and the same switch as Google Analytics. The LinkedIn tag currently loads on every visit; to limit it, use your LinkedIn ad settings or a browser tracking blocker. These are used only to measure and improve our own advertising, never to sell your data.
Your rights
You can access, export or delete your data, and withdraw AI consent, at any time. To make a request, contact us at [email protected].
